She Broke The Rules!

How are you doing?

It almost seems like a question that's going to be a part of our lives going forward is, "Have you had covid?" Probably like you, I know many people who have been dealing with it. Either getting it for the first time, getting it again, or dealing with “long covid” symptoms. Maybe this is you.

I want to share the story of Tina, who had – all things considered – a mild experience of Covid, but had strange Long Covid symptoms and was wiped out for weeks afterward.

To give some context, Tina had just gotten back into a routine of exercising after the pandemic threw her off of her self-care.

She lives alone, and like many of us, went through a dark period during the pandemic. She had challenges at work, struggled with depression and gained what she called her “covid -15.”

She hadn’t been taking care of herself consistently, didn't want to attend in-person classes, and hated typical exercise.

Then she found It’s All Yoga, was LOVING exercise, getting stronger and feeling better. Then she got Covid.

But here’s the great part.

Even though she was knock-down tired, she still came to every class – even though she hardly did any of it.

She said, “I’ve been so sick and have had no energy, but it lifted my spirits to feel connected while being in quarantine, to move my body gently and slowly and feel the stagnant energy move and release without forcing or powering through.”

She told me even if she broke the rules and just laid on the floor and listened, there was so much benefit in just being together.

Now recovered, Tina is feeling strong in her body and calm. She is eating and sleeping better. She is taking care of herself in other small ways.

Our needs change and self-care is deeply personal. No one can tell you what is best for you and there are no rules.

Because rules are man-made answers to spiritual questions.

And we're moving on from that.

Away from obligation and into connection.

Away from absolutes and into beingness.

Away from mechanization and into sacredness.

Sometimes we need a place to call home, and we can improve how we feel in our body and soul and, consequently, our approach to life.
