September is the New January

September has the feel of a fresh start. Even if your year isn't organized by a school schedule (or even if school started in August), we all have an imprint of "back to school" in our bones from at least 12 years of body memory. The smell of the classroom, the crispness of a new notebook, the way we settled into the routine of the week.

As an adult, "back to school" can mean back to structure, some amount of predictability, or getting back on track. This is a great time to check in with any goals you set this year or simply feel into what you need to be more balanced right now.

We're also settling into a fresh season. Heading toward autumn, September has a reflective quality. The turning and falling of leaves, the days getting shorter and cooler, the veil between this and that is thinner.

For years at the studio, we held a Back to School Sale the first week of September. It was something people looked forward to and I'm excited to bring that back for current members of It's All Yoga.

It also seemed like the perfect time to offer a way for you to go back to school... yoga school!

If you are looking for a reset, you want to dust off your yoga mat or get a tune up, the Back to Basics series is just for you.

The Back to Basics series runs four Saturdays in September. We cover alignment of the most common yoga poses, as well as options to accommodate injuries, interest, or ability.

This series is:

  • Perfect for all bodies and ages.

  • Ideal for beginners or coming back after a break.

  • A small group with individual attention.

  • Online so you can take it from wherever you are.

A consistent yoga practice starts with understanding the basics. Having a strong foundation will help you enjoy your practice, be consistent and stay safe.
